It is with both pride and gratitude that I submit my tenure portfolio for review. This portfolio is a culmination of my teaching experience over the past three years highlighting my contributions to the Jericho School District through my role as general music teacher at Cantiague Elementary and 6th Grade Chorus teacher at Jericho Middle School. Within these roles I have strived to serve the school community through both my classroom teaching as well as through my involvement on a larger scale within the Jericho district and throughout the county.
After having taught both elementary and secondary music in the Connetquot School District for 16 years, I was eager and excited for the opportunity to continue pursuing my professional goals within the Jericho School District. Returning to the elementary music classroom allowed me to develop goals for the K-6 music classroom that would support students as life-long musicians. In pursuit of educating and supporting the whole child, I have focused on: developing student confidence and sense of belonging within the music classroom; involving myself in a larger capacity within the district and in the county to support student musical growth and opportunity; and developing new ways to engage students in creating music using technology resources.
I look forward to continued growth and reflection as an educator and for future opportunities to serve the Jericho School District.
