Tri-M Honor Society, Co-Advisor As I continue to establish myself within the district, I have enjoyed connecting with our High School music students as club Co-Advisor for the Tri-M Music Honor Society. In my role as Co-Advisor, I have had the opportunity to work with students who are highly dedicated to service through music. In my advisor capacity, I have helped to coordinate performance opportunities for students, supervise music mentorship of our Jericho Middle School students, and coordinate student volunteers to assist at Jericho concerts and professional music and arts education festivals such as the NYSSMA Adjudication Festival for Piano, Nassau County Music Educators' Association Division 1E rehearsals, and the Balanced Mind Conference.
High School Musical Production, Vocal Director In the 2021-2022 school year, I had the pleasure of serving as the vocal director for the High School Musical Production of Legally Blonde. My responsibilities in this production were to teach all of the vocal music in the show ranging from solos to small groups to full-cast musical numbers. It was especially rewarding to help students who were new-to-singing, as well as those who were experienced, expand their vocal potential.
Leadership Roles in Music Organizations and Administrative Internship Since arriving in Jericho, the professional support and encouragement from colleagues and administrators has been especially meaningful. I am proud that in the three years that I have begun working in Nassau County, I have quickly taken on leadership roles within professional organizations that directly benefit our Jericho students. Establishing a professional network in Nassau County has proven to support my growth as an educator and expand my reach as a representative of the Jericho School District teaching staff.
In the Spring of 2021, I was fortunate to complete an internship in Educational Leadership through SUNY Stony Brook with Jericho Administrators. Under their guidance, I had the opportunity to work on projects that would benefit the Jericho community. Some highlights from the internship were: creating District-wide performance showcases that provided an opportunity for our music and art students to continue to perform and share their work over a digital platform; creating a restorative practices circle to present at a Jericho Middle School PTSA Meeting based on the book "Atomic Habits," by James Clear; and developing a presentation and webinar to assist Jericho families in navigating the Virtual NYSSMA Festival Platform for 2021. Through the Educational Leadership internship, not only was I able to continue my growth as an educator, but found a new opportunity and lens with which to build connections across the district.
